Problems in the anal area are often related to straining during bowel movements. Combined with age or naturally weaker tissue, or even on its own, excessive pressure can disrupt the normal tissue structure at the junction between the rectum and anal canal (the so-called hemorrhoidal zone) or within the anal canal itself.
The most common condition treated in our proctology clinic is hemorrhoids. In the early stages, they can usually be treated conservatively with ointments, suppositories and similar methods. We are also fully equipped to perform outpatient procedures, such as rubber band ligation (Barron ligation). We treat not only hemorrhoids on an outpatient basis, but also a range of other conditions, including anal fissures, which occur when the lining of the anal canal tears. Inflammatory conditions can also affect the anal area, including abscesses and fistulas. These conditions can also be treated with minor outpatient surgical procedures.
